Book model: partial floor plan carved into book paper
PAPER CELLULOSE
This project addresses climate threats by exploring a building material – paper cellulose and paper brick – crafted from recycled paper. It aims to mitigate construction’s impact on climate change and offer discarded books and paper a second life as a building material for a restaurant.

The paper brick is made of a mixture of two ingredients: paper pulp and wood glue. This mixture is set in a mold to be shaped and hardened with the application of pressure. The result is a brick-like material that presents opportunities to be used as a sustainable building material for a range of projects and scales, from bookshelves and furniture to walls.
